How to Crochet a Cute Amigurumi Narwhal Stuffed Toy!

Narwhals have become a craze thanks to a silly animated video and song. Now you can crochet your own with this beginner friendly tutorial! Make yourself a whole pod of them!

 

Materials Needed
Worsted weight yarn(2 colors, one for body and one for horn)
3.5 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle, scissors
Safety eyes
Stitch markers
Fiber fill/toy stuffing



Stitches You’ll Use
Ch-chain
Sc-single crochet
Sc inc- 2 single crochet into one stitch
Sc dec-single crochet decrease
Hdc-half double crochet
dc-double crochet
tr-treble crochet
sl st-slip stitch
mr-magic ring
sc blo-single crochet through back loop only

Body
Row 1: Make magic ring. Ch 1. 6 sc into ring, placing stitch marker into 1st.
Pull tail to cinch ring shut [6 sc]
Row 2: sc inc in each stitch. [12 sc]
Row 3: *sc, sc inc. Repeat from * to end. [18 sc]
Row 4: *sc, sc, sc inc. Repeat from * to end. [24 sc]
Row 5: *sc, sc, sc inc. Repeat from * to end. [32 sc]
Row 6: *sc, sc, sc, sc inc. Repeat from * to end. [40 sc]
Rows 7-12: 1 sc in each stitch, replacing marker at beginning of round each time. [40 sc]
Row 13: *sc, sc, sc, sc dec. Repeat from * to end. [32 sc]
Row 14: *sc, sc, sc dec. Repeat from * to end. [24 sc]
Row 15: 1 sc each stitch. [24 sc]
Row 16: *sc, sc dec. Repeat from * to end. [18 sc]
{Add safety eyes between rows 7 &8. Stuff body firmly with fiber fill.}
Row 17: *sc, sc dec. Repeat from * to end. [12 sc]
Row 18: 1 sc each stitch. [12 sc]
Row 19: sc dec entire row. [6 sc]
Fasten off. Sew shut and weave in ends.

Fins (make 2)
Row 1: MR, ch 1. 6 sc into mr. [6 sc]
Row 2: sc inc every other stitch. [9 sc]
Row 3: sc each stitch around. [9 sc]
Row 4: sc dec every other. [6 sc]
Row 5: sc dec every other [4 sc]
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing to body.

Tail
Row 1: MR, ch 2. 3 tr, 2 dc ch1 2dc, 3 tr, ch 2.
Pull tail of ring to cinch shut. Sl st to center of ring.
Row 2: sc into 2nd ch of previous row’s beginning ch2. 2hdc, 3 hdc, 2 hdc, 3 hdc, 2 hdc, (hdc dc hdc) into ch1 space of previous row, 2hdc, 3hdc, 2hdc, 3hdc, 2hdc. Ch2 and sl st into ending ch 2 from previous row.
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing to the body. Do not stuff.

Horn
Row 1: MR, ch 1. 4 sc into center of ring. Pull tail to cinch ring shut. [4 sc]
Row 2: sc inc every other. [6 sc]
Row 3: *sc, sc, sc inc. Repeat from * to end. [9 sc]
Row 4: sc blo each stitch around. [9 sc]
Rows 5-8: repeat row 4. [9 sc]
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing to the body.

Stuff horn. Sew onto body, lining up with beginning magic ring of body.
Place and sew on fins & tail.
